Coventry City have agreed a £6million deal to sign Brentford centre-back Ethan Pinnock. The fee is £5m with £1m in add-ons, tying the 33-year-old to the newly-promoted side for three years with an option for a further 12 months.
Transfer Details
Pinnock has been granted permission to travel for a medical ahead of the proposed move. He is entering the final year of his contract at Brentford, which runs until 2027, and did not feature in their season-opening win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Career Overview
Coventry’s signing marks the club’s ninth summer arrival and the second centre-back after Aurele Amenda joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in July. Pinnock moved to Brentford from Barnsley in 2019 and has since made 216 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists. He played a key role in Brentford’s 2020-21 promotion campaign from the Championship.
In recent seasons Pinnock has lost his place in the starting XI. He did not appear in the final eight Premier League games of the 2024-25 season and featured in only eight matches last term, four of which were league games.
International Experience
Pinnock has made 28 senior international appearances for Jamaica. He played every minute of the World Cup qualification play-offs, helping the team to a win against New Caledonia before a defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo after extra time in the final.
