Dango Ouattara scored his first goal for Brentford to secure a 1-1 Premier League draw at Hull City on Sunday. The point moves Thomas Frank's side up to seventh in the table with 10 points from their opening seven matches.

Ouattara struck in the 63rd minute, finishing from close range after a pass from Igor Thiago. That cancelled out Oli McBurnie's 25th-minute penalty for the hosts, which came after Aaron Hickey fouled Tim Iroegbunam. The result extends Hull's winless league run to six games.

"I'm just happy to get the goal and help the team get the point," Ouattara said after the final whistle.

Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, making his first Premier League appearance in over 900 days, could not keep out McBurnie's spot-kick despite getting a hand to it. The Irish international had earlier been involved in the incident that led to the penalty, with a poor pass putting Hickey under pressure.

Key moments

The game's major flashpoint arrived midway through the first half. Kelleher's pass out from the back was miscontrolled by Hickey, who then brought down Iroegbunam as he tried to recover. McBurnie stepped up and sent his penalty down the middle for his first top-flight goal in over two years.

Brentford responded well after the break and found their leveller just past the hour mark. Thiago drove into the box from the left and squared the ball for Ouattara, who made no mistake from six yards. The Bees had chances to win it late on, with Jaidon Anthony forcing a save from Hull keeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, while substitute Mikkel Damsgaard added energy after coming on.

At the other end, Mathias Jensen made a vital block to deny McBurnie a second goal after a cross from Mohamed Belloumi. Hull's best late opportunity fell to Joe Gelhardt in the 88th minute, but he fired wide after good work by Mohamed Ali-Cho.

The match was played in difficult conditions, with strong winds from Storm Boelo carrying debris onto the pitch at the MKM Stadium. Both teams had to adapt their play accordingly.

With the draw, Brentford's recent form reads two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five outings. They have scored 13 goals and conceded eight so far this season, leaving them 11 points behind leaders Manchester City. Kevin Schade remains the club's top scorer with three goals. Thomas Frank's men now turn their attention to a home fixture against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Forest, who are 18th, visit the Gtech Community Stadium next weekend.
