Brentford defender Henrik Dalsgaard has spoken about his time at the club, including his experience playing at the World Cup and winning promotion at Wembley. The defender joined Brentford in 2017 from Zulte Waregem and quickly settled into the Championship. He recalls the atmosphere and intensity of the opening fixture against Sheffield United, which confirmed he had made the right decision to join the club. Dalsgaard also talks about the physicality of the Championship, which he enjoyed, and how it was a welcome change from the Belgian league. After a difficult start to the season, Brentford's 3-0 victory at Bolton sparked a strong run of form, but Dalsgaard's progress was interrupted by an injury sustained against Birmingham. He returned from injury in February and re-established himself in the side, finishing the campaign with 32 appearances in all competitions. Dalsgaard's first Brentford goal arrived in April, a late winner at Nottingham Forest, and he felt the group needed to 'raise its baseline' if the club was going to compete for promotion. For Dalsgaard, however, there was little time to reflect as he travelled to Russia with Denmark for the 2018 World Cup. He is proud to have represented his country at the tournament and has many highlights to look back on, including shaking hands with Kylian Mbappé.
