Brentford's Ryan Woods credits the club for helping him through a tough period.
What happened?
Woods joined Brentford in September 2015, but initially found playing time hard to come by. He came on as a substitute in several games, including against Leeds United and Middlesbrough.
Why it mattered for Brentford
The change in management, with Lee Carsley taking over, allowed Woods to get his career back on track. He started playing regularly and gained confidence in his abilities. Woods worked with ball-striking coach Bartek Sylwestrzak and performance psychologist Tom Bates to improve his game.
What comes next?
Woods' hard work paid off, and he scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win at Reading on December 28, 2015. The goal was a memorable one, with Woods driving from just beyond halfway and finding the net with a cracking strike from 25 yards. As of the current season, Brentford is standing at 9th place in the league, with 53 points from 38 games, and a recent form of DDLWL. Their last result was a 1-1 draw against Liverpool on 2026-05-24. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | League Standing | 9th | | Points | 53 | | Recent Form | DDLWL | | Last Result | Liverpool 1-1 Brentford
