Brentford are preparing to submit an improved £37million bid for West Ham United defender El Hadji Malick Diouf. The 21‑year‑old left‑back, who made 32 Premier League appearances last season, is keen to return to the top flight before the transfer window closes.
The Bees have seen their last three offers rejected for the Hammers left‑back. Diouf, who recorded five assists in the Premier League, played in West Ham’s opening Championship match of the season, a 2‑2 draw at Burnley, but was absent from the squad for the 2‑1 defeat to Charlton Athletic.
Brentford’s interest comes as the club looks to strengthen its squad for a return to the Premier League and a push for European qualification in the 2027‑28 season. With no star departures this summer, the club aims to secure Diouf’s signature to bolster its defensive options.
West Ham, having been relegated to the Championship last season, are in a difficult position. They have yet to win a league match in the opening two fixtures and are in need of signings before the window shuts. The Bees’ offer represents the latest attempt to acquire a player who can help the Hammers regain Premier League status.
If accepted, the transfer would see Diouf leave the Hammers for the Bees, potentially adding experience and depth to Brentford’s back‑line as they aim for European competition next season.
